Professional Training

Program

The Professional Training Program will help you broaden your skill base in order to help your students effectively develop proficiency and critical thinking in the target language. The training can be taken as a 10-course sequential program, or you may also take individual courses to meet your specific professional development requirements.

What you'll learn

First of all, you need to continue to develop your set of linguistic terms. Then you will explore fundamental second language acquisition concepts. You will deepen your knowledge of the role of comprehensible input and develop more advanced scaffolding strategies. You will develop a broader skillset of strategies that address processing, acquisition and interaction. In addition, you will be provided with basic criteria for using different types of language materials.
You will need to develop your understanding and application of critical thinking to elevate your students’ proficiency level. Furthermore, you will develop an essential formative assessment tool: the student report.

And finally the program wraps up addressing the most common teaching mistakes made by language educators.
